Podcast 64: Talking Camp with Mr. Gerald Weston

LYP Teen Camp 2023 is over! Today, we sit down with the camp director and our presiding evangelist, Mr. Gerald Weston, to talk about how camp went and to ask him to explain some of the principles and values that drive our approach to serving our teenagers each summer at the camps. If you’ve ever wanted to know why we do what we do when we do camp, this is your episode!

Don’t forget that we’ve posted tons of pics from this year’s teen camp, available down below, and that more pictures from other camps, such as some of the preteen camps and the adventure camp, should be posted, as well, as soon as we find a spare moment! So, check back often. Now, here’s the podcast!

P.S. I forgot the link to the sermon Mr. Robinson mentioned that I said I would put up! We’ll put it in its own post right after this one—a real classic from Mr. Rod King. If you’ve never heard it, you should give it a listen.

LYP West Virginia Preteen 2023: Early Pics!

We’ll post pictures from this year’s preteen camp in West Virginia shortly after the camp has ended. However, we have a few pics from the first couple of days to share just to give you a taste of the fun the kiddos are having. So, come back in a week! (We’ll try to post other pics, as well—both from the preteen camps and the adventure camp. So, stay tuned.)

Podcast 63: How Do We Understand the “Angry Psalms”?

The Psalms have some pretty violent imagery in them! If they are models for us, in many ways, about how to really pour our hearts out to God in prayer, then what are we to do with these “angry psalms”? Mr. Robinson is here to help us out!

LYP Teen Camp 2023: Final Pics!

Well, all the Teen Camp staff and campers are gone for the year and the Texas Preteen Camp is well underway. But here are a few final memories from the 2023 Teen Camp! The pictures include images from the last-day All-Camp Activity and then the Final Banquet and Dance. We’re grateful to God and Jesus Christ for blessing the campers and staff and making it a wonderful summer! Our grateful thanks to all who prayed for camp this year.

LYP Teen Camp 2023: Almost-But-Not-Yet-Final Pics!

As we post this, camp is over and kiddos and staff are on the way home. We are grateful to God for a wonderful year!

Here are some pics from the last few days, and we’ll endeavor to have an additional post later featuring the final banquet and dance. Below, you’ll see 2G at Aquatics and the conclusion of their relay race, 3B in Life Roles, then a lot of casual pictures taken just last Sabbath. Mr. Bobby Jacques asks the campers an important question as they are about to leave: Every message at camp has been about choosing life over death, so which will they choose? After that are a few overlooked pictures from earlier during camp, featuring 4B & 1G at the Topics & Dance.

LYP Teen Camp 2023: 1B in Archery, 2B in Scripture Education, 4B in Life Roles, then Evening Activities and the Camp Talent Show!

The 2023 LYP Teen Camp is slowly drawing to a close. We wanted to post a few more pictures for you before the Sabbath arrives here. (In particular, check out the pictures of the campers at the evening talent show!) It has been a wonderful year, and we do have a little bit left. The Sabbath is always something special, and then Sunday the campers enjoy a different schedule of activities, as directors disassemble their areas and prepare for leaving the next day and everyone gets ready for the end-of-camp dinner and dance that evening. Having a day set for camp-ending preparations is a real help, one more day of fun for the campers, and helps the preparation for the big dinner and dance not interfere with the sanctity of the Sabbath.

We’ll do our best to post some pictures on Sunday if we can. Until then, from the Texas Teen Camp, have a wonderful Sabbath!

LYP Teen Camp 2023: 2G & 3G @ Softball, 3B in Life Roles, 3G in Aquatics, Evening Activities, and Mr. Weston teaches about the Seven Unshakable Unbreakables

The “regular days” of camp are winding down as the Sabbath approaches! We’ll try to get one more set of pictures up before sundown. All the campers are surely looking forward to a restful and rejuvenating Sabbath break before the last day’s special activities and the end-of-camp dance.
